Our Story
Betty is a small creative coastal inspired brand that began on the Gulf Coast by artist and shop owner Liz Calver.
Long before Betty became a collection of tees and goods, Liz created drawings, paintings, and prints - inspired by the places she loved. That creative work eventually grew into a little boutique of her own, Betty Shop.
Today, the collection is rooted in nostalgia, salt air, old beach towns, and the everyday moments.
We make pieces that feel less like souvenirs and more like little treasures — reminding you of a feeling, a place, a season, a memory….
Everything is designed with a little history, a lot of heart and a pinch of salt air. Liz designs and prints each piece right in her seaside studio.
Betty is proudly small, independent, artist-led.
Whose Betty?
Betty [elizabeth] was a free spirited mother of 6. A musician, animal lover, beach enthusiast, nature observer, woman ahead of her time. She loved travel, exploring, learning and creating.
In 1981 Betty passed away in a sudden accident. A few weeks laughter her granddaughter was born- named after her grandmother Elizabeth [Liz].
Although they never met, she grew up to be very much like Betty. Two souls passing in the cosmos, cut from the same cloth. So when it came to naming her business - it could only be one thing. Betty was reborn.
Liz grew up on boats, the daughter of a female boat captain. From coastal New England towns to southern harbors, from the Florida Keys and beyond. Always inspired by the water. Always carrying Betty with her.
